AIK is in advanced negotiations to sign Finnish talent Nicklas Kroupkin. The club has held several meetings with the 17-year-old winger regarding a permanent transfer until 2027.
The player, who represents HJK Helsinki's reserve team Klubi 04, is viewed as a long-term addition. He could initially join AIK's academy and train with the first team at the start of next year. Kroupkin has scored seven goals in 24 Ykkösliiga matches this season and also has one assist in two competitive appearances for HJK's senior side.
Battle with Djurgården
Djurgården has also inquired about Kroupkin's situation, creating a tug-of-war between the Stockholm clubs. Djurgården's head coach Jani Honkavaara has close ties to Finnish football, while AIK's recruitment officer Miika Takkula is also Finnish. AIK is currently seen as the stronger option for the player.
Kroupkin's current contract with HJK Helsinki runs until the end of the 2027 season, aligning with the timeframe AIK is discussing. He has made several youth international appearances for Finland and will turn 18 in July.
The talks come as AIK is experiencing a dip in form in the Allsvenskan. The team sits ninth with 33 points from 23 games and has a recent record of LLDLD from its last five matches. The most recent outing was a dramatic 5-6 loss to IF Brommapojkarna last week. Next up is an important home fixture against IFK Goteborg on 17 October, a side one place above them in the table.
AIK aims to finalise a permanent transfer for Nicklas Kroupkin, with the plan for him to join the club at the start of 2027.
