AIK is on its way to a record sale that can stabilize the club's economy. The young talent Zadok Yohanna is expected to leave AIK for enormous sums. According to previous media reports, Brighton has made a bid worth around 230 million kronor, and AIK has announced that negotiations for a deal that could bring the club over 130 million kronor in net profit have been initiated. Meanwhile, clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle, and Chelsea have been reported to be in the running, with the two latter clubs potentially presenting bids that exceed Brighton's initial offer. Regardless of the destination awaiting the 18-year-old Nigerian, AIK appears to be set to receive a significant influx of funds in times when the club has been struggling with enormous economic problems. It's a rapid development in less than a year! When he joined AIK, he started in the youth team before getting a chance in the first team, where he had a few tough matches before it exploded, says AIK supporter Ponthus Andersson to FotbollDirekt. Zadok Yohanna joined AIK last summer, but it was no major signing. The new signing was financed by a group of AIK supporters through the initiative Agent12, where Ponthus Andersson is one of the three founders. It's a really special feeling and it's fun to share it with all the supporters who have been involved and contributed, not just us who founded the initiative. Agent12 is only meant to benefit AIK, we have no economic agenda of our own, and all the money goes to AIK. This is member democracy at its best and how it should work in a member-owned club. It's how cool it is. The idea behind the initiative is that AIK supporters can come together and collect money for the club. The catch is that AIK can only use the collected funds for signings of players under 21. There were over 3,000 contributions last season. It was a really good response. We're very happy with how it's turned out, even if AIK's large supporter base has the potential to reach even higher goals, says Andersson. Over the past few years, AIK's own capital has completely collapsed. Since 2023, AIK has lost around 42 million kronor, and the own capital has gone from around 65 million kronor to 23.5 million in the first quarter of 2026. With the expected sale of Zadok Yohanna, the club can instead expect a profit of around 100 million kronor for 2026 and an own capital of around 150 million when the year is summed up. This gives AIK completely new opportunities to pay off debts, clean up, and secure, as well as to be able to invest long-term so that a stable economic foundation is built. The hope is that this will not be like the Alexander Isak money that quickly ran out, but rather the beginning of something new, exciting, and long-term, says Ponthus Andersson.
